A thoroughly enjoyable review on the past and present of ammonia in the atmosphere involving suitable consideration of the many possible origins of the understanding of ammonia and ammonia salts from both natural and synthetic sources. The author made a clear attempt to consider non-European sources which was greatly appreciated by the reader. Some issues were present with regards to readability of data on tables (units not presented on Table 1) but overall the paper seems accessible, even to those without an atmospheric chemistry or history background, marrying these two fields well to make for a very fun read! Note: Issues in Data Availability for this paper are not relevant due to its nature as a review.
